Can I use the Rakuten card out of Japan? How much is the commission charge?

You can use your Rakuten card out of Japan if the shop supports your card brand like VISA, MasterCard, or JCB.
When you use your Rakuten card with VISA or MasterCard brand out of Japan, the payment will be charged by Japanese Yen and the exchange rate is determined by VISA or MasterCard.
Also, they will charge 1.63% exchange commission.
For example: (If 1 USD = 100Yen) 1USD×100Yen/USD×1.0163=101.63Yen
When you use your Rakuten card with JCB brand, out of Japan, the payment will be charged by Japanese Yen and the exchange rate is determined by JCB.
Also, they will charge 1.60% exchange commission.
For example: (If 1 USD = 100Yen) 1USD×100Yen/USD×1.0160=101.60Yen

※Exchange rate is not the same as the one on the date you made a purchase.
※Regarding cash withdrawals out of Japan, you will not be charged any commision by the international brands above.
※Please be aware that you can confirm the amount on Rakuten e-NAVI billing statement page after we receive the final transaction data from the company where you made the purchase.
※Regarding the exchange rate on the purchases you made out of Japan, you will see the the exchange rate including the comission fee on the billing statement.
